There is an excellent team of carers and nurses who I can see actually "care" about the residents and relatives. I feel very fortunate to have found such a great environment for my mother to be looked after in.

The lady who looks after the activities is excellent so we as a family are very happy to say to others this home is both caring and safe. My mother is happy so we are all happy.

Winter Activities at Derwent Residential Care Home

From Afternoon Tea and manicures to a bit of X-mas shopping: in the run up to Christmas and the New Year, residents at Derwent Residential Care Home have been very busy these past months. Here are some of our winter highlights…

Our ladies at Derwent are very glamorous, and always look forward to their regular hand and nail care routines. They especially enjoy the relaxing hand massages they get from Floor Manager, Georgie, who has magic fingers. This is followed by expert manicures, courtesy of Activities Coordinator, Cathy. She’s practically a pro, completing the session with stylish nail polish applied expertly in the most flattering colours.

Afternoon Tea at the Royal Victoria Hotel – there really is no end to how much we spoil our residents at Derwent. Ours was a window-side table with romantic sea views. We enjoyed fresh scones with clotted cream and jam, washed down with a cup or two of the perfect brew. But best of all was the chance to savour it all with good company.

Tis the season to be jolly, while spending a bit of money so we made a quick trip to the local shops. At the very top of our list of things to buy were Christmas decorations for the home. The outing was also a good excuse to have a look at what could be in our stockings if we’re good this festive season.

At Cedars Care Group homes, we facilitate activities suited for the interest and capabilities of all our residents. Physically  and mentally stimulating, they are designed to enhance life skills and promote a sense of purpose and self-worth in the people we support. Find out more about Activities at Cedars Care Group homes.
