Winscombe Hall Care Centre Hosts Silent Disco
At Cedars Care Group homes we’re always looking for new and exciting ways to keep our residents active and stimulated. This Friday we hosted a disco at our Somerset care home, Winscombe Hall Care Centre. But it wasn’t your average disco, thats for sure.
Mark Sweeting from Sweet Result Fitness dropped in to Winscombe with his paraphernalia of fun party props, disco lights, and headphones for all of us. The activity of the day was Silent Disco, and what a lot of fun it was with residents and staff all up dancing with glow sticks galore.
Individual headphones means freedom of choice for all of our residents who each picked the music they wanted to dance to. The volume on each set of headphones could be adjusted to suit individual needs as well, catering for those with poorer
hearing. All the while, Mike’s voice could be heard by all as he prompted the group through the various dance routines.
Since our residents loved the activity so much, Mark will be back to do a Christmas special Silent Disco in December. We simply can’t wait!
Meaningful activities are a fundamental part of day-to-day life at Cedars Care Group Homes. They are vital for the wellbeing of seniors, and those living with dementia or Alzheimer’s. With Music being such a powerful stimulant, we find that dancing is an excellent way to get residents to enjoy physical exercise they’d normally not be up for.
