Testimonials

" Both my mum and dad are now residents of Woodlands Manor, they have been there now for 7 weeks and I couldn’t fault it so far. The manager of the home goes above and beyond in the care she gives and the events she puts on for the residents. My mum and dad share a lovely room together backing onto the huge very well-presented rear garden, all of the staff we have come across so far have been lovely, caring and attentive to my mum and dad. It was a very hard time for the family trying to find a home which we felt good enough for our mum and dad as you are looking for a 5-star hotel you will never find, we viewed around ten homes and never felt any of them good enough or suitable until we went to Woodlands Manor, once we met the manager and viewed the premises we felt comfort putting our mum and dad into the care they had needed for a while. I will carry on adding reviews each month to hopefully help others looking for the right care home for their loved ones."

"My husband has been in Cedarwood since December 2022. The care, consideration and compassion which he receives is amazing. He has Lewy Body disease which results in a mental decline. By July I was very distressed and not coping well with his situation. The entire team stepped in and provided me with advice and support. They even arranged a BBA for the residents to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. It was a wonderful experience - enjoyed by all. Nothing appears to be beyond Cedarwood. They provide a service second to none."

Overall Experience 5 Stars "From the first time of seeing the home we were put at ease, the home is lovely and clean, no smells and the staff are lovely. Very spacious and well set out. The kitchen is lovely and clean and the meals smell lovely. We saw two homes before Derwent and they were disgusting. I can actually sleep at night knowing they are in good hands."

"We chose Cedarwood House Care Home for its quiet location in the countryside and its size for Mum. It took Mum a couple of weeks to settle, but the manager and staff assisted in the transition, and Mum is really settled now. We receive regular feedback and full updates when we visit. Staff are very engaging and always happy to assist with anything required."

"Since my grandmother has been living in Cedarwood House Care Home, I have noticed a great improvement in her well-being, from her wanting to join in activities, eating better, starting to form friendships with the other residents and staff, my grandmother seems happy and content in her new home. Thank you Cedarwood for making this hard decision of having to put family members you care about into care, the right one for all the family, and especially my grandmother who now smiles again."

"My dad has been at Cedarwood House Care Home for nearly two years, my experience with the home has always been positive but even more so now since the new staff and management have taken over. The staff are extremely helpful and always show the utmost kindness, dignity and compassion for the residents and their families. The facilities are always clean and tidy, Dad's room is lovely overlooking the fields and gardens. I feel my dad is well cared for, it is a great comfort to me. Many thanks to everyone for all the hard work you put in, it is very much appreciated."

"I am very happy with the care provided to my mother at Woodlands Manor. The managers and staff have faced some extremely difficult times, these past few months. With the current situation, their professionalism was to a very high standard. Woodlands Manor is an exceptional home."

"Ash Croft cared for my dad for nearly nine months. I did not worry about the level of care he received. The staff obviously and genuinely care for Dad and supported me, often on a daily basis, throughout the difficulties of Covid. I am a registered health professional myself, therefore, played an active role in all of Dad's care, and staff were always receptive to my preferences in relation to Dad's best interests. I can not fault the care from the staff at Ash Croft and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this nursing home. Dad did not use the facilities, food and drink or activities."

"My mum spent two years at Cedarwood House Care Home and lived with complicated insulin-dependent diabetes and Alzheimer's. The carers were very professional, knowledgeable, friendly and showed how much they loved Mum by the way they cared for her individual needs; they really do treat the residents like family. I spent a lot of time at the home visiting Mum so really got to know the staff and residents well. The home was always extremely clean and fresh on every visit. Having home-cooked meals was important as Mum often needed adjustments in her diet and they always accommodated. The overall personal care of your loved one is of utmost importance when finding a forever home for them. Mum was always clean, well dressed and looking her best, which the staff knew was important to her even if she wasn’t aware herself sometimes. Sadly we lost our mum recently to Alzheimer's. For the love, care, compassion and dignity they showed both me and Mum, I will be forever grateful. Would highly recommend Cedarwood House!"

"On the 11th January 2021, my wife who had been a resident at Cedarwood House for two years, passed away from Covid and Alzheimer’s. I know all the staff fought tooth and nail to keep Covid out of the home and this they managed for over a year, for which I am truly thankful to them. The last year has been difficult for residents, relatives and staff due to the various restrictions Covid forced on all of us, but I feel Cedarwood House did their best to keep the home running, often with reduced staffing levels. I was contacted early morning on the 11th January and advised my wife had had a bad night and to prepare myself. I was promised that someone would stay with her until the time came. Thank you for staying with her until 11am when she passed away peacefully. I do not think the home could have done any more than they did and I feel that my wife passed away with dignity and with her favourite staff member by her side. I would not hesitate to recommend this home for short or long term care."

"From the day my husband took up residence at Cedar Grange in October 2020 he was treated with kindness, compassion and most of all care in every aspect of the word. Nothing was too much trouble whatever the question when asked. The care team treated him as if he were one of their own. He settled in quite quickly and although we were unable to visit inside the home due to Covid - window visits were arranged with the provision of two-way speaker systems which enabled us to carry out conversations, thus keeping the contact. Sadly, he passed away in January after spending 2 weeks in hospital but as a family, we will always be grateful to everyone at Cedar Grange for all the support we received from them."

"This was Mum's first stay at a care home and although she was suffering from dementia and cancer, she was happy to stay here, as it is rural and she was able to access the garden which was very important to her, which was also the reason we were happy for her to stay. She also met old friends there. The staff were friendly and treated her like family and nothing was too much effort. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone having to find that special place for their loved ones."

"The team at Ash Croft House are exceptional. They gave our dad fun, love and laughter, as well as highly professional care and kindness during the last 18 months of his life. He quickly came to see it as his home and so did we. Seeing the high standard of care and fun he was having each day, enabled us to enjoy our last months with him and this has been a great comfort to us. We will never be able to thank the whole team enough."

"Due to Coronavirus, I have only seen mum through the window and once in the garden. She has trouble hearing and it was difficult to discuss any issues. However, every time I meet the staff they are always friendly and helpful I am happy with their feedback."

"Our family are indebted to the staff of Woodlands Manor for the dedicated care and support that they have provided to our dear Mum. We have been very comforted by the loving environment that Mum has enjoyed at Woodlands Manor. This has made it a real 'home' in every way, particularly in relation to the great humour and joy that typifies Woodlands Manor."
