Staff Profile of the Month: Sophie
Meet Sophie. She used to be one of our valuable Night Care Workers, and was was recently promoted Head of House Keeping at Winscombe Hall Care Centre. For this month’s Staff Profile, we spoke to Sophie about herself, and what motivates her work…
Q: How would you describe yourself?
I am a reliable person, I am a good team player and believe in good time keeping at work. I would describe myself as a strong person who is a good friend because I like to make people happy.
Q: What is your greatest achievement to date?
That is easy to answer, it would be having my children.
Q: What is on your wish list for the next five years?
I would like to buy a house, I wish good health for my family and I would love to take all of my family away for a dream holiday
Q: What is your guilty pleasure?
Cake! I eat cake all of the time!!
Q: What’s your favourite food?
Italian food, I love lasagne, pasta…all Italian food.
Q: How would you describe a typical day here at Winscombe Hall Care Centre as our Head of House Keeping?
Well I am a bit OCD about my job and I literally can’t stop looking for the next thing to clean and organise! I have a strong attention to detail which means I am always very busy!
It is very important, to me, that the home looks nice. It must be clean and smell fresh. This is really important for our residents, their visitors but also for all of the staff that work here too. I’ve been getting out the feather duster, cleaning behind wardrobes and radiators!!
Q: What’s your favourite film?
A walk to remember. Its an American coming-of-age, romantic drama. I love it
Q: What’s your favourite song?
I like all sorts and I like to sing along (though I’m not a good singer!) I’m going to see the Spice Girls on tour this year – they are not my favourite but I think it will be great to se them live.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
I love the residents, and the team here are great to work with and I like setting myself ‘to do’ lists and getting them done. I can achieve goals and targets here which is important to me.
Q: What makes you happy?
Seeing other people happy, being able to help others and my children and family.
