Christmas at Cedars Care Group Care Homes
With our weeks packed with festive activities and everyone preparing for Christmas, it’s been a very busy December at Cedars Care Group homes across the UK.
Here are some festive photos of all the fun we’ve had over December in the spirit of the season. Thank you to everyone who was there, and Merry Christmas from the Cedars Care Group family!
Our Formby care home, Ash Croft House went all out with their Christmas decorations this year. We have a festive flower arrangement on the sideboard in the hallway, courtesy of our new, local florist. A miniature tree and candle in the fireplace, definitely added festive cheer to the Quiet Room. Lastly, but not least, the pièce de résistance, is our dazzling Christmas tree, in its place of pride by the window of our living room, topped with a beautiful little angel.
At our North Somerset care home, Ellenborough, the staff motivator for the month is certainly in keeping with the spirit of the season. Meet Elle the Elf, who loves playing hide and seek and has a talent for hiding in the oddest places around the home. When found, Elle rewards his finder with chocolate goodies. Once returned to the office, Elle sneaks off again to hide himself in a new place, where he waits patiently for another staff member to find him.
Regular activities are an essential part of day-to-day life at our care homes, as they are key to keeping our residents active and motivated. However, residents aren’t the only ones here who benefit from motivation. At Cedars Care Group, we take pride in taking care of our staff just as well as our residents, and staff motivators are just one of the ways we keep things enjoyable at work.
Speaking of motivation (and we aren’t sure if Elle the Elf had something to do with this) but Ange, our very talented cook at Ellenborough, decided to pull out all the stops this year with mind blowing Christmas cake she prepared for us. We all felt it was much too pretty to eat…but we simply couldn’t resist.
At our East Sussex care home, Cedarwood House, staff discovered that the best way to chase away the gloom of cold winter days was with a cup of something warm and sweet. They went all out preparing mugs of rich hot chocolate for residents who took a break from all the Christmas preparations to enjoy their chocolate drinks, piled with marshmallows!
Meaningful activities are a fundamental part of day-to-day life at Cedars Care Group Homes. They are vital for the wellbeing of seniors, and those living with dementia or Alzheimer’s. December is often the busiest time for us, as we find that residents are even more willing to take part in Christmas activities. It’s a great opportunity to keep them stimulated and motivated.
