There is an excellent team of carers and nurses who I can see actually "care" about the residents and relatives. I feel very fortunate to have found such a great environment for my mother to be looked after in.

The lady who looks after the activities is excellent so we as a family are very happy to say to others this home is both caring and safe. My mother is happy so we are all happy.

The care and attention that was given was wonderful. Full marks to everybody in the home.

Comfortable and caring. Staff are competent and caring, always ready to help.

The staff are wonderful and the care my husband receives is excellent.

News and Events

The residents at the Ellenborough were visited by Dan from Zoolab.  The Zoolab visits are a favourite and it is wonderful to see the interaction between humans and the exotic creatures they bring to us.  Dan has a BSc (HONS) in Integrated Wildlife Conservation and has previously worked with animals in aquariums, zoos and farm parks.

Dan used to live in the middle of the Costa Rican rainforest in a research station with no power or internet. He studied resident raptor and parrot species interactions.

Dan is knowledgeable and clearly loves what he does.  His sessions are informative, interactive, fun and well received.

Dan brought along a range of exotic creatures:

  • Queen – The Bearded Dragon
  • Misty – the snake
  • Dave – the giant African land snail
  • Moose – the rat
  • John – the Madagascar hissing cockroach
  • Rosy – the tarantula

The residents were brave and enjoyed handing the animals.  There were squeals of delight and fright as each creature was brought out.  There were a  lot of questions being asked and Dan was fantastic at answering them all.
